Anyone hear of a boat wreck on Sardis yesterday?
No, but it would not surprise me. Really wonder why we don't have a bunch there with all the traffic of not skilled operators.
I have a friend from Missouri fishing up there, good fisherman, skilled operator. Apparently he hit some stumps and an old roadbed in Grenada, went to Sardis launched and about two miles out, boat went down. Sent him a message, waiting on him to respond, I'll post up what happened. It was a Ranger, they're not supposed to sink completely with all the floatation.
Forrest Wood used to cut a Ranger in half on the water with a chainsaw in one of their old commercials. He might not try that now!!!
Hope everything goes well for your friend.
Grenada ,like most lakes have pitfalls when the water is low . Saw a guy hit a old bridge frame under water at Enid .Said he fished it the year before with no problems .He was up Hubbard Creek . Water level was 5 ft. lower the previous year . Slow is the word ,stay safe .
I do a lot more idling with my motor trimmed up than most folks. That stuff scares me.
He ran into some stumps and an old road bed in Grenada, went to Sardis and was about 2 miles from the ramp when his bilge pump kicked in. He headed toward shore, but the boat filled with water. Someone helped them and gave them a ride back to their truck so they could get it out. He has a two foot gash on the bottom of his boat. He did say, Rangers float even when full of water. I am sure he was running too fast on Grenada.
Everyone be careful on these low water lakes, preserve your boat. Repairs are expensive.
