probably gonna be may before they start hittin good
When do they normally spawn up there
Depends on which part of the state your fishing. In the south and south central,,last couple of years its been warm,,and I think they started around 1st of April and and by end of April done depending on which part of each lake due to water temp. This year,,now they are saying we are going to have a cooler than normal month of April. I think its anybody's guess with all the ice we had previously and how this cold rain is going to lower water temps especially today. Right now,,48 and heavy rain for Patoka and Monroe..so any temps we saw cracking low 50's will drop. But,,even in the early years,,I still caught crapppies on the first of June with eggs in them depending on how deep water was nearby. I also find lots of bluegills still on beds sometimes 1st of June on the main lakes of Monroe and Patoka and think we might see this again depending on the weather. However,,if it were to warm up all of the sudden and stay warm..you could see a spawn all at once and be over with too. Anybody's guess with this weather I think. I know that DNR has already put their nets out this week at Brookville Res..to capture walleyes for the eggs and their restocking program and guys there are saying the water temp is still cold as all get out. Hope that goes without any hitches due to cold weather.
