Reelfoot black crappie
Hey guys my dad and I are heading up to the Foot tomorrow to fish for black crappie. We have fished reelfoot for years but always just spider rigged and did well but we're wanting to try something different this year before the black crappie spawn.
I am not asking for any specific peoples spots, just looking for some advice on catching black crappie in the trees. I know they like thick, dark, and shallow places. Right now I'm planning to start in the burnt woods area.
Thanks in advance for any help, you can pm me if you'd rather.

Catching blacks right now is very possible. You're too early to be fishing trees right now. Our weather has been crazy and things aren't like normal. My advice for catching blacks right now is casting jigs in the lily pad stems. Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for the advice, would you recommend a black chartreuse color under a slip bobber 18 inches?

I believe you have the right idea. Just play with the colors till you figure out what they want. Consistency has been hard to find here lately. If worse comes to worse you may tie on a hair jig and try that as well. Just play with it. But casting in the stems is the most consistent way I've found to catch the blacks lately.

Who knows, I may see you out there tomorrow. I'm thinkin I may go out and do the same thing I suggested.
