Hey guys, I recently installed the HB 597 ci HD DI in my boat and the first time out the GPS worked fine. Well now it's saying the GPS/speed is unconnected on accessory screen. I purchased it brand new on 3/14. I have it hooked to my cranking battery with an fuse connector on positive cable side. Any ideas of why it all of a sudden quit working? Thanks for any input.
I'd try "restore defaults". If that doesn't work, call H/B.
I tryed that and it still show unconnected. Nothing is obstructing the unit that would inhibit its ability to view satellites. Thought maybe humminbird Greg may have an idea
Other than a low power connection possibly causing this I would think you need to call Humminbird 1-800-633-1468. Check your wiring connections to make sure that nothing is loose or corroded (even the fuse holder).
Had that problem with mine when I first installed it, the transducer cable slipped down because I was in to big of a hurry to install the retaining clip.
I'll check cables this afternoon. Didn't think the transducer cable would have anything to do with GPS tho since it's an internal GPS? Ran it all day yesterday and GPS never connected. 2D and DI work fine just no GPS which is one of main reasons I got it. LOL
I have the EXACT same problem. It worked fine for nearly 2 years then just the other day after I updated the software, my GPS is gone. The nav and chart tabs are gone from the menu as well. DI and 2D sonar are working fine. If you put it in simulation mode, the GPS related tabs are there and you can change them and what not, but in normal mode, they are all gone. I called Humminbird on Tuesday. They couldn't figure out what the problem might be so they gave me an RMA and I shipped it out to them Tuesday evening. The guy I talked to said they would have mine repaired or a new one shipped back to me in around 3 days. I took it to UPS on tuesday evening but I think I missed the pickup so we'll count from Wednesday and see if he was right on the turn around.
I sent mine last Thursday and it's on the delivery truck to my house today. I sent it USPS tho. They are fedexing it back. We will see if it's fixed this afternoon unless there's a tornado headed my way or something:yikes
Sometimes removing the head unit from the quick detach base and re-attaching works...
I have no idea why...(internal antenna doesn't have any external connections)...
It's worth trying...

Got mine back from HB yesterday and its working like a charm now! Hopefully it will continue to work. Going to try it out on the water tmrw.:ThumbsUp
