the hill
went to the hill on friday and is just was not my day. Started out having to fuel the boat that morning which i hate doing. (dont like getting the gas on my hands and then handling the baits) Got to the ramp and went to pump the bubble and my gas line split in two. fixed it in the parking lot and finally put the boat in the water only to find the conditions a lot muddier than i had anticipated. before my first cast i went ahead and changed all 12 colors. started casting and before all lines in i was catching fish. about the 3rd fish was a pesky hybrid and man did he make a mess. another retie. I could not find anything but small fish in shallow water so i moved deep. My GPS was acting up with the speed sensor showing anywhere from .2 to 3.8 my MPH so i had to troll off of feel and looks of the rod tips.(what a pain) finally found some big crappie willing to bite but they were mixed in with more hybrids. after my 4th retie i decided they could have that creek and put the boat on the trailer for a move. Bad idea because i never caught a crappie the rest of the day. I did bring home a SC limit but there was very little culling this day as i had to keep quite a few 10 inch fish to have enough for a good fry. (and i really hate keeping fish like that.) any how it was a not the best day but a beautiful day on the water. I guess you need days like that from time to time to keep you humble

So you had 20 crappie at least 10" or better. Man I need to take you fishing with me so you will know what a bad day is!!!! :Rofl

Scaling those smaller fish and eating off the bone is some FINE eating. Yea, more trouble than filleting but mighty fine eats.:)

Brushpile, I have been having a down year this season. Lots of Hybrid and Striper and very few Crappie on our end of lake. Never had to fish in water this muddy before and either there are not many crappie or I just haven't figured out this mud fishing. Not giving up though.
Thanks for the report.

Those are the kind of days that humble you a bit, but at least you got on some fish. Having that kind of day and then not catching any fish will make you wish you never got out of bed. Congrats on weathering the bad, and bringing home the good.

Thanks for the report. Not sure what happens at time but the fish can disappear from one day to the next.
