For me I used chartreuse and yellow heads and a black-gold glitter/chart, junebug/chart and a chart/black-gold/chart tied jig. This was fishing in stained water.
With Russell the colors can change from day to day. I also use my Stump's Fire-Tiger tied jig, a Tennessee Shad in curly tail or Slider. If fishing the clear water I will go to some light colors but on that lake the dark colors also work in the clear water because of all the timber you are fishing around. Blue/white, pink/chart. chart/ pink and any body color with a chartreuse tail works well. Don't over look solid jig colors like white, black, chartreuse, blue, pearl and the list goes on.
Thanks Stump Hunter for information you are always a big help.
Yesterday we fished:
Chart, pink, and orange round jigheads
blue/white/chart. curly tail
blue/chart. curly tail
blue/black, chart. curly tail

john deere curly tail
Junebug slider with chart. tail
