Santee crappie help
Bringing my son and grandson down from the 22nd-29th. Staying at Bells Marina. Could anybody help with water depth, type structure etc? Haven't been down for about 20 years, used to come down twice a year for the bass so don't know much about the crappie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I posted yesterday but it has disappeared for some reason....Thanks in advance....Pete

I haven't fished in that area as of recent, but the fish are on the move. Reports are coming in from folks catching them from depths of 20 feet or deeper, all the way to the banks. Last week most of the fish I caught came from the 8 to 12 foot depths. I was tight lining jigs tipped with minnows. With the weather and water conditions warming, long line trolling will certainly get the job done, and cover a lot more water as well. If your a low tech fisherman, drifting minnows over flats will catch a few, as will pitching jigs and minnows to shallow cover. If your mobile, and don't mind a longish boat ride, head across the lake and fish Wyboo, Potato, and TawCaw creeks.

I will be fishing that area tomorrow. Going to long line early and then jig shallow. I will post on how I did.
