Aliceville Lake
Hey guys I'm new to the forum and to fishing. I recently bought a boat and would really appreciate any info about aliceville or Columbus lake. Any tips on how to get into some of the backwater or any info in general would be appreciated. I mostly stay on the Mississippi side of aliceville lake but would be willing to try anything. Thanks.

Aliceville Lake
I fish there often, they are moving out into the shallows now. Try single polling and casting a jig under a cork. There are so many back water areas it's hard to tell you how to get in and out of them. The best advice is to go slow, Slow, slow, When entering a back water area. Watch your depth finder's and pay attention to any structure sticking around

Go up Tibbee Creek (Columbus) or Camp Pratt (Aliceville). Most of the backwater areas will hold fish this time of year. As feesh said, go slow, idle speed. Lots of stumps and shallow water.

I was wondering how to get into camp pratt. Can you tell me where it is. I usually put in at August landing. If I'm right when I leave the boat ramp there is an opening about 60 feet wide on the right a little ways upriver. Is that it?

I'm not familiar with August Landing, but the easy way to Camp Pratt is to take 45 south from Columbus, when you get to Weyerhaeuser Rd, turn left, follow Weyerhaeuser Rd about 2-3 miles, road turns to gravel, keep following, no turns. Camp Pratt boat ramp will be on your left.

Pratt is on the west side of the river, if your going north it is on the left.

Ok. Thanks. I didn't know there was a boat ramp down there.

Pratt's good. Lots of fishy water. Still a little early for the shallow bite. Give em about 2-3 weeks. Fish can be caught right now there but you have to take your time. These fellers are right about being cautious though. The same fishy water can be heck on your boat.

10-4. Be careful at Pratt and be ready to be able to pull yourself off of a stump. Nice place though.
