Wiring for trolling motor

I'm new here, and I have a 21' party barge I bought last year and am setting it up for slow trolling. It is not wired for trolling motors so I'll have to do it myself and am wondering exactly what I need for my trolling motor to be wired correctly. It is a new minn kota powerdrive v2 68 pd. I've read where some people say use a fifty amp reset breaker and others say sixty. Not sure and was hoping someone could fill me in. I plan on putting both batteries up front. So they will be close to the trolling motor. Also not sure what the best connectors would be either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The copper crimp on connectors that fit your post and wire size are best. 50 or 60 both would work. Put it as close to battery as you can. Use same size wire to connect it as you do to your plug. 6 is best but short run 8 will work.

Thanks, do you have a preference to the type of plug to use or know of one that is better than others? I have heard some say to use Anderson type lpugs because they hold up better. Just wondering.

Those will work fine. Just make sure you get it sized to the wire you are using. Get a small tube of Dialectric grease and put a little on the connector part to keep it from corroding and better conductivity.

You might think I'm crazy. But I rewired a G3 and used 6 guage jumper cables to wire from double trolling batteries from the rear to the front. Cheaper and already coated for abrasion resistance. Check around. Over half the cost of buying wire straight up.
