Ridiculous Conditions Fishing Anyone?

Yep. We did it today. 247 mph winds.(Ok, maybe 24.7) 30 foot chop. (Alright.. it was 3 feet) 6 degree air temp when we quit. (Give or take 40 degrees, mostly give) 14 slabs on ice after 3 hours. (That really did happen!!!) I know not everyone gets excited about 14 but it's a good trip in my book and we were in some of the worst fishing conditions that I've seen. We had Bankhead ALL to ourselves this afternoon. They were in the tops and fishing jigs was impossible so they were all caught on shiners. I wish I had pictures of the river white capping, but I don't. Here are the fish anyways... Biggest was over 15" and right at 2 lbs. Smallest was 10.5".

The wind is your friend - and you're thinkin' "yeah right!"

I bet you'll always remember this trip and really savor those fish come eatin' time, though.

Nice catch under those conditions. I am glad to see the one Male black crappie in its spawn black color.Dont know what the Bankhead water temps are but got to be close to 60 for him to be changed that dark.Got my fingers crossed forthis weekend at the big G .

Ikard77, I don't know if I would describe us as "braver" but thanks for the credit! Haha. LarryDavid, you are correct, I plan to eat about half of those fillets by myself when the fish fry comes around. Snapperking, for Bankhead those are full out spawn colors. They are very bright for that river and the female's eggs are all starting to get the thick, dark, veins in 'em. PUBoiler, we did have another that was gut hooked and in a different cooler that I forgot about until after the pics were taken. Good eye though. Haha!
