Have not heard anything good about crappie fishing except out of Weiss lately
Wish I could help you but hadent been out on the big G in awhile hoping to go Saturday will report if I do
Based on the last four days on Guntersville. I would fish Brown's Creek or Beech Creek area. Haven't been on Town Creek for three weeks, but didn't catch any and didn't mark many fish then. Didn't mark many fish on the tv in Short Creek or PoleCat.
Water temps last week started at 54 and finished at 62.9. This cold front will stall them back for 5 days or more.
TVA has been pulling water since this past weekend. Friend of mine lives at Beech Creek and he's catching no fish under his dock since the water is down. I fished the 69 causeway bridge Monday with no success. We moved to the Town Creek bridge and caught 13 before they quit biting for the day. 7 of them on minnows and the other 6 on Bobby Garland (bluegrass, monkey milk and blue thunder). Bite was slow and very light. Fish from just before dawn to about 9 am; they will quit by that time. Didn't see any boats catching anything at Town Creek, mostly bass fisherman throwing those whopper A-rigs. Water is still cold in the shallows and they seem to be hanging off ledges down about 10-12 feet in or close to the creek channels. Good luck.
Well, you'll be in the best moon phase. So, you got that going for you - which is nice. Didn't get as cold as they thought by about 5 degrees last night, and the sun is out warming things already, so that's a plus. Didn't rain as much as we all thought it would, too, but more is on the way before you get here, so that is key. Big-eyed boogers like to be able to see what they're chasin'. We ain't kidding, it's been tough, though. Plus, they've dropped the water level and stopped pulling as much at the dam(n). Looks, well, okay, maybe. Personally, I'll be at the casino that day. Probably better odds (two, three, four).
Are you sure about those temps? I fished all over Brown's Creek Sunday and only found one area in about 3ft of water where the water temp broke into the 50's; everything else was 48.7 to 49.5 consistently, from 7am until 12:30pm. Both sets of electronics on the boat were in agreement within 0.1 degree of each other. 62.9 just seems impossibly high.
Humminbird 597 was the box, could be wrong, but the fish numbers weren't.
I'm old and easily confused, but I can count.
Zero
I would love to try today but I'm going golfing tired of not catching crappie and watching bass fisherman act like fools.
Water temp was 56-58 yesterday. Fish are busting at the gut to spawn and this next week should be on fire. Brought home 4 short of the limit yesterday. 12 ft of water all on minnows, would not touch a jig. Bite was very, very light.
