Born and raised on the Lower White and Arkansas Rivers, but never fished Horseshoe. What's the good word on ramps at the lake? Look forward to meeting folks in the area, anybody headed over this weekend or in the next couple of weeks?

I've only been there 3 times and since the first time when we caught a cooler so full you couldn't shut the lid on it, the lake has been really mean to us weather wise. I think there are 2 pay ramps one on the north side and another that I've never been to on the south west side. I think if the water is low, you need to be really careful about launching because there are some bad drop offs at the end of the ramp and you can tear up your trailer. Good luck and hope you catch a bunch of fish.
That lake runs hot or cold more than any other lake I've fished. It was dead over the winter, then they started catching fish around the piers about 3 weeks ago. Then they turned off again. I have'nt gotten a report in the last 10 days or so. They will turn on again and it is time for that to happen.
Good deal, appreciate it. Is Bond's (or another shop if I'm missing one) pretty well stocked, or are you better to have what you need before you get there?
I was there last weekend, caught fish before the front came in..that lil store has some stuff, better off getting what u need..ramp is fine at kamp carefree
Use to fish that all the time before moving to Central Arkansas. Best ramp is carefree. Me and my dad did really good trolling there with minnows only and 2-3 on each line.
Bonds has minnows and a small selection of tackle. Minners are running around $2/doz and they count them pretty hard. I have not put in at Carefree ramp since they went up to $7. I put in at Clydes ramp and it's still $5. There's usually a bass tournament out of there every Saturday of 8-15 boats, so the ramps in good shape to launch those big Ranger boats.
As stated before, the fishing has been spotty this year. I've caught them as deep as 22 feet and as shallow as 3 feet depending on the water temp. I skipped Horseshoe Saturday and went to Midway. Figured as pretty as it was, the crowd would be tough at Horseshoe.
Hope you get into 'em.
great lake , like any other just got to start fishing it and figure em out , when and were they'll bit and what time if year is best, my favorite lake in that part of the state!
Any luck at Midway? How is the water level? Can you launch your boat without much problem? Haven't been there in a couple of years. Asian Carp were pretty bad the last time I was there.
Thanks,
