kentucky lake trip
Some friends and I are planning on coming down March 16 for a week. We are a little discouraged cause of the weather. We are used to winter fishing so a little cold isnt bad. I was just wondering what the bite was like and what was predicted for the week ahead down there. Just dont want to spend the money and waste a vacation if things dont look to good. Just looking for a little input to help to decide whether to come down or to postpone. Any advice would be appreciated.

Right now we have 6 or more inches of snow that will be melting and running into the rivers/lake in the next few days. That in its self will hurt fishing for several days. We are looking at 60s for the 1st of next week then mostly 40s and low 50s for a week. That will help warm the water a bit but nowhere near what it would be in a normal year. I'm glad I'm not having to make your decision.

I know that people always suggest it, but hire a guide for the first day. I recommend using Wiskers (Terry). If he has an opening, I can all but guarantee you will catch quality fish regardless of the conditions. He is always on here so he will see this and most certainly chime in. He knows that lake and catches more crappie on accident than I do on purpose.

Creeks all half full of chocolate milk from melting snow today here. Probably running into bays now.

I wonder if your with a good guide even if lake temp only gets up to around low 50's would one still get on some fish

If you could postpone, I would wait until April or even early May. It's not going to be easy to catch them in a week.
