Another Point 1 Question

I have read the other recent post on the new point 1 antenna and think I got some answers from it. But I am looking at a different setup so here goes.
I just bought a new HDS8 gen 2 bundle unit from BBG. I still have a 5200C global map on the back and would like to keep it there along with the HDS8, maybe keep one zoomed in and one out or just save screen space on the HDS8. The 5200c has a 3000 ext antenna and NEMA 2000 capable and the ability to rotate the map to keep North up. I would assume I could buy a point 1 ant and a NEMA 2000 starter kit and run the HDS8 and the global map from the one antenna? What performance increase would you think I would gain on each of these units by doing this? Thanks for you time.
PS:I have read that with a little practice you can eliminate using a marker buoy on a brush pile with the point 1 antenna, anyone doing this yet.

The hds gen 2 refresh moves from 5 refresh to 10 refresh per second. The 5200 wil only refresh 1 per second. They will share waypoints, but only the waypoints that are created when the two of them are on the same active antenna (gps). The 5200 could not read any waypoints archived on the hds.

I have a similar situation with the 27c. I was gonna use the 27c as gps only, but will probably get a gen 2 something to enable the high refresh and the magnetic compass capability.

Is the 3000 a nmea 2000 device or 0183?

Thanks Cane pole, that refresh rates you stated would be with the point 1 which I assume would be faster than the HDS8 internal antenna? I watched a video on the point 1 and it looked pretty good with the range rings and keeping direction despite drifting or reversing from the target.
Justin I assumed it is a 2000 since the 5200C said it was a NEMA 2000 but not yet certified or something like that. I might have to venture over to the garage and look, despite the -40 wind chill we are having.

That is right about the internal on hds gen2. LCG3000 is a NMEA 2000 device. Most Lowrance gps capable devices can also receive any NMEA 0183 signal, however this NMEA 0183 format would supply only 1 second instances.

Even if they come up with something to keep boat from moving at all ,the old reliable marker will still be needed,you don't have to constant look at df and as you cast near marker you know exactly where you cast and can hit the same spot if need be next cast,when fish get on a small sweet spot 2 feet to left or right will come back empty

A marker can also present misinformation if it unwinds too much. My trouble with markers is the boat always manages to snag the marker. Couldn't by my driving expertise. I use a marker when I back off the brush, etc. and cast jigs into the location. I only do this when I fish by myself.

Markers are a good tool, no doubt.

I hear both both points on the marker's and I aint getting rid of them, but like to have options. Marker's can be a pain in heavy waves or rolling them up in the cold weather.
Would the heading sensor also work on the global map 5200?

Thank you, Gene, for providing me with one of your electric buoy retriever inventions. It is nice on cold or hot days.
