I have a 18.5 aluminum bass tracker that has a dent in the hull right under the passenger seat. And it makes the boat pull to the left really hard. What's the best way to fix this ? Fill it in ? Or beat or pull it out? Love to hear some ideas and experiences you had with this problem. Thanks guys.
Put a big dent under drivers seat, that should correct the problem!

You really need to be careful with this. Does it have any sign of a crease in it? Or is just a smooth indention? If smooth what buckeye said will work great. If its creased when you beat it out, you take a chance on it going the other way. Always use a rubber mallet like buckeye said unless you have a dent repair kit with the proper hammers and such.

I have ran several Xpress boats with the pad hulls and when you get a dent it really kills the performance. A dent the size of your fist can cause it to never get up on the pad again. I've found that body fillers like dyna-glass with the kitty hair or fiber glass pieces does the best. Just sand it good and fill it like fixing a dent on an auto. It adheres very good to the aluminum.
I don't know how to fix the dent. A guy in Lonsdale advertises aluminum boat repair. I don't know anything about him though.
However, once fixed.....there's some stuff called GLUVIT.....an epoxy type brush on stuff.......that makes the bottom slicker than owl snot, and sort of covers up imperfections, etc. I used it on a project jonboat that I'm working on......and was impressed.
lucky is right on about the dynaglass. Its a fiberglass body filler. Really good stuff. I would give that a try before hitting it. It can be sanded back out if need be.
Yeah I think I would rather fill it in than beat it out. I'm going to try that 1st.
