how to find fish.

Hey guys looking for some pointers. Im new to the whole crappie game and found a few last year around march and april. Never started em this early. I see alot of people saying they are catchin em in 5 ft of water or 5ft down in 10 ft of water my question is...how are yall going about locating fish. Do ya look for shad on the finder or seek our brush piles or bridge pilings. or change in bottom such as drops and such. All i really know is fishin cover. Ive managed a couple dinks so far this year and am trying to get better at single pole jiggin trynna leave minners at home. Just curious if fish are folowing shad or just off the banks or sittin on cover. Really dont know where to start so ive been trying it all to no avail. Not looking for ur honey hole just lookin for an idea of how to look for em this time of year on any cover. Some buddies are catchin em off cypruss on yo yos so i reckon my next trip out im gonna hit the trees at conway. Still trying haha.

I can't find em on Conway. Personally, I try to find fish on the sonar. I look for structure both visible and non-visible as well as depth changes then try to fish the entire water column. My go to is a minnow however, sometimes, that is not the best. Yesterday it was primarily minnows only, the time before, jigs were better on the same waters. All the above I'm sure you've heard before. Nothing beats time spent on the water. There are two ways of learning. One is to go with someone else and get them to show you. The second is to keep trying yourself until you figure it out on your own. There are lots of Conway tips hidden within the pages of crappie.com and out there somewhere is a fishing guide that the AGFC has put out. It is in a .pdf format had has some great tips. I'll try to find a link to it. Again, I am not the guy to tell you where to find fish in Central Arkansas, but if I were there, this is what I would do.

Thanks rcc. I love my graph but find it utterly pointless in most parts of conway besides locating the channels.
