I figured if I drove 2.5 hours to go fishing I would be able to force myself to stay on the lake longer as that's too far to drive for a short trip. Even though the bite was slow I did stay for just over 8 hours which is the longest I have stayed on the water since my wife passed. The water was very muddy with lots of debris. I started in Eastland and could not buy a bite. (before anyone says it's too early for Eastland remember that Carl Herring caught his 4lb 8oz crappie in Eastland this time of the year) I then ran to Panhandle where I got 7 including this 15.5" white crappie that weighed in at 1lb 14oz. (I am sure it would have topped 2lbs had it been a black crappie)

It was caught with a 1/16oz Cajun Cricket BGBS counted down to 20 and reeled in real slow. I probably should have just hung around but figured I would try other spots and headed to Island Creek where I got 7 more but they were all right around 10". All 14 of my crappie were caught 15'-20' down. I returned to Eastland in the afternoon and tried the shallows with no bites. Main lake was around 42 degrees and even with temps at 49 in the back of a cove I had no takers.
The seagulls were everywhere and I saw a lot of shad swimming around which the seagulls were feeding on.
