clear lake friday afternoon

Fished from 11 am to almost dark. Caught 13 keepers. 1 over 14". Cant say I'm not hard headed, fished under the fish for at least 2 hrs. Fish were 4 to 5 ' deep in 10' of water.Water was 45 degrees at 11 am went to 51 degrees at 5:30. Didn't seem to matter between rosy reds or shiners.

I dont fish clear lake but just curious. U say 5 ft deep in 10 ft of water.how did u decide where to fish? Were u fishing structure of any kind or creek channels? Or just open water where u saw schools of shad. Trying to learn how to find these darn things.

Good catch Jerry! Bob and Jeff "waylayed 'em" this morning with minnows 5 feet deep no matter how deep of water they were in. They are going back after 'em in the morning!

Well a lot of time it is experience, but like I said I fished under the fish for about 2 hrs. Sometimes its all about search mode. Turn the trolling motor on and start fishing. Different depths , different colors, different speeds, sometimes cover, sometimes structure. Cover water and look for a pattern. Every bite and every fish helps. Every thing you see on the depth finder helps, shad, brushpiles. Sometime its something strange like birds on the water. Godspeed. Just start fishing and pay attention to what's happening around you.
