Guess I am going to bite the bullet and get a 899 and the 360. Other than the two units, what else will I need if this is just dedicated to the front of the boat and I have no other units compatible with the 899? Just the ethernet adapter (720074-1, AS EC QDE)?
What trolling motor do you have? Or what are you mounting the 360 to?
I will fabricate the mount for the 360, already got that covered. Just want to make sure I am not going to be a cable short or something.Quote:

Yep. You are covered.
The 360 will need a power source, I tapped into the power coming up front for my depth finder. I installed both the 20' ethernet cable and the short power cable to my front console and connect these to ethernet and power cable attached to the 360 each time I launch the boat. Apparently the 360 will drain your battery if you keep it connected to power.
By the way, I want to see just how brighter that screen is than my old 898.
The AS-EC-QDE is the only cable you need Scott.

All I meant to say was that you are covered as far as what you need.
The details on the two pig tails attached to the 360 and the 2 extension cords can come later when you get ready to wire them up. Same with the Heading puck.
Installation of an isolation switch will prevent the 360 from draining your battery also. Just remember to turn switch on before waiting for unit to list the 360 as connected. Not like some dummy that looks a lot like me. After installing everything stood for awhile ( I won't admit to exactly how long ) on initial start up of 360.
Manual cautions that it might take awhile. But remembering to put the switch on will shorten the time compared to me. Other than that little fiasco everything went pretty smooth. Even networking with the 1198 went as per instructions. Imagine that.
