My Minn Kota Power Up just clicks when I try to use it. I've tried to help pull up and push down while trying to use it but I haven't had any luck getting it to work. I've also noticed that the wires get hot after trying to move it. Any suggestions? It's got a 25hp merc on it and is stuck in the position where the motor was on my transom saver.
For a follow up, the motor on the lift had water in it. I took the motor apart and dried everything out then polished all the electrical contacts and lubed the bushings. Put it back together and it worked like it always has.
Could be a pump froze due to water in the fluid, or could be a motor problem. I don't suspect brushes since you said it gets hot and the heat is coming from a short through the armature not turning. Since the power up is no longer made, and parts no longer available, sounds like it's time for a new trim plate. I can get that for you if interested.
