Wichita area ponds/lakes
Hey all. My lady lives in Wichita and I drive up from OK every weekend to see her there and have noticed that there are a bunch of what look to be small rock quarries or man made ponds with a bunch of houses around them in Wichita. Some have ski pylons and other water sport related equipment floating in them and some do not. I was just curious as to the ownership of these types of impoundments and if it is possible for a guy to wet a hook on them since most of my weekends are not spent around my home lakes and creeks? Any information would be helpful since I'm starting from zero. Most that I've seen are covered with tons of geese too! Too bad they're in city limits.

If there are houses around the ponds, I would stop and ask someone who lives there, if it would be OK to fish.

It sounds like those are private waters. You would need to find the land owner and get permission from them.
It is an ever increasing pain to obtain permission to access private land. :banghead

yea most of them are owned by the housing area there. With out a house/ apt. owner present you are not allowed to be on them. There are a few places to fish that the city controls. if you like trout fishing or cat fishing they can be good. Some crappie available in some of them but I don't go to them much except for the trout. Just find a state fishing map for the area and it list what you can fish and what is found there.
