Good areas on weiss?
I'm thinking about headin down to Weiss lake for my first time the end of February. Have never fished the area before and was wondering if anybody would help me with a good creek or Bay Area that produce crappie or which side of the lake would be best to start on. I think I will do alright but any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm still goin to bust out the maps but you guys know how it goes when you get to a new body of water anything that will save me a little time. I don't know much about this lake but I know it's got big crappie. Thanks in advance.

It's really hard to say what areas could be on at the end of February on Weiss right now. That depends on a lot of things like weather, water temps and a few others things. But if I had to pick a few right now it would be Yellow Creek, Embos, Bay Springs on the lower end all can be reached easy from Bay Springs Marina. Then Riverside and Trotters up river you can put in at Riverside Campground. You can bet one of these places will be producing good catches when you get here... Have a safe trip down...!

Really appreciate that Kelly I'm excited about fishing a new body of body water. Some guides are pretty tight lipped about giving any information on their home water so if I get a guide on Weiss you would be who I call. Thanks again!

First trip to Weiss be very cautious many big stumps in shallow water very near the deep river channel And channels are not marked very well up river You can be on plane in 40 feet of water and in 2 seconds be in 12 inches or less in a stump field Can make for a really bad day I suggest a guide for an orientation or a dang good gps unit with high resolution map

One other note! In the early spring! As water come up logs will come loose and be floating sometimes just below the surface! My transum found one luckily I was going slow minor damage.
