Baldwin County (Gulf Shores,AL) EMA urges people to prepare for possible 6 inches of ice and snow
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala.-- Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency personnel will be in a planning session Sunday afternoon, followed by a conference call on Monday morning with county, municipal, school, healthcare and response partners to discuss essential preparations, according to EMA director Mitchell Sims.
Latest forecasts are calling for 2-6" of ice and snow beginning late Monday into early Tuesday, January 28, extending into Wednesday, January 29, said Sims in a press release to Alabama Media Group.
"This will potentially make roads impassable and cause tree limbs to fall onto power lines causing loss of power," said Sims.
It is expected that these conditions will begin Tuesday and continue into Wednesday due to low temperatures.
Residents in the affected area are encouraged to have a plan. Consider that conditions may make travel dangerous, so have enough food, water and medicine on hand for 3 days. Because of the possibility of power loss, have a plan for staying warm.
It is expected that these conditions will begin Tuesday and continue into Wednesday due to low temperatures.
