I'm considering a Minkota Powerdrive V2 55 I-pilot/remote. Is this a good trolling motor? I have a 16' StarCraft/30hp Thanks.

Yes it is and for a very good deal check with our sponsors. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/forum...Classified-Ads
If you are going to get i-pilot, I would go with the Terrova.
The V2 will need to be unplugged/disconnected when not in use to conserve the battery. It does NOT shut off when in the store/up position.
The Terrova automatically shuts off when put in the store/up position.
get the biggest you can afford, it is better to have 80 lb.of thrust when you only need 55, but it is a bummer to need 80 and you only have 55.......terrova is a great motor I have used both the power drive and the terrova,
Terrova is also much more user friendly when launching and retrieving motor.
Larry,
I had a 55PD V2 for 3 years, great unit, If you can afford it Trout B is right, by it once and be done
I eventually sold mine and bought a Terrova and been very happy with upgrading
Couple other benefits are the remote buttons are easier to use, you can use the foot control or remote , with the V2 you can't
X2 - got a couple friends with the V2 and sometimes you have to bang the he!! out of em to get 'em down. One trip out it took 2 of us leaning on a saltwater model to get it to drop. I'd rather go back to a cable control that to have to mess with that.
Terrova is easy, push the bar and it releases.
X2 on the pedal also. It really pays off when you got 2 rods in hand and need to move or even shut the motor down.
