Kentucky Lake fishing report on Big Sandy for week of Jan. 25th.
Hifolks. Welcome to Richard Williams Outdoors.
Thewater levels here on Kentucky Lake came back down to just about winter pool. And are supposed to level out at 354.8 by the end of the weekend. TVA has beendumping over a hundred thousand cubic feet of water per second out of the damsfor most of the week. The surface temperatures are still in the 30’s and if theweather stays as cold as it has been, the water in the bays will most likelyfreeze again. And if they do freeze again, I’m sure that the shad kill we hadwill continue until the water starts to warm up a little.
I have not talked to anyone that has been fishing thisweek. And I really don’t blame them. I don’t mind fishing when it’s coldoutside. But the type of cold we have had and are having makes it too difficultto spend that much time outside. Then when you add the wind that we have had,it’s almost impossible. However, there are several boat and RV shows going onso we can at least talk about fishing.
One of the shows going on this weekend is the GrizzlySpring Tackle Show at Grizzly Jig Company in Caruthersville Missouri. It startsFriday and goes on all through the weekend. There will be several well-knowncrappie anglers there giving fishing seminars all day long all weekend. Cappsand Coleman, Wally Marshall, Russ Baily, and several more will be sharing theirfishing knowledge with anyone that wants to listen. Plus there will be a lot ofrock bottom prices on just about anything anyone would need to go fishing whenthe weather warms up a little.
The Henry County Carl Perkins Center for abused Childrenand Tosh Farms are teaming up to have a crappie fishing tournament April the 12that Paris Landing. Within a week or so, there will be entry forms with infoabout the tournament spread out all over Henry County and the surrounding counties. The entry fee is only 50 dollars per person and 100% of all the money collectedwill go to the Carl Perkins Center for Abused Children right here in HenryCounty. Plus there will be a lot of very nice prizes that anyone can win at theweigh in.
