Does anyone assist the local search and rescue or fire departments using your side scan sonar? Having put in 20 years as a volunteer, I can see where doing this could be a benefit to the community for many reasons.

Here in Illinois almost all fire dept's got a john boat for retention ponds and ones near big lake got large bass boats fully equipped. About 5-7 years back they all got side scanners to search ponds &quarries. I know of only two times where fisherman on scene where asked to help, and that been long time back. What with mutual aid betwwen fire dept's they can have 6-8 fully equipped boats on water in matter of minutes
Here in Ga the DNR has boats equipped with side scan for body search and recovery
In Oklahoma, State Troopers have recovered several vehicles with bodies still inside. Some were reported missing 30 or more years.
