Last year, late winter/early spring on my first trip I was guessing I would start looking for fish at a depth of nine to fifteen ft. The water was muddy. After about two hours I found them at four to six feet deep in twenty foot water.The water was cold. Could the sunlight penetration in the muddy water be the reason they were so shallow? Or does sunlight even come in to it.
This is just a opinion. Think muddy water fish go shallow with sun out because it is usually a little warmer. Think the sediment in water helps absorb warmth. Plus I think they are more comfortable shallow in the muddy water.
Right on . I have always been told the muddy water warms quicker in the sunlight .
You're thinking it's more of a temperature thing than a light thing, or both?

Stained water warms quicker because its darker. Just like a black tshirt vs a white tshirt. Same goes with shallow vs deep water. 2 cups of water boils faster than 10 cups of water. Sunlight has a lot to do with it.
Bird down, a friend of mine ask a biologist the same question and he said because the food was there. But, he didn't ask him why the food was there. He,s a good old boy but his cables a little stretched.
Its all relative, warmer water attracts bait, bait attracts fresh.

Also, contrary to what someone put on here, actually a black shirt as whole will keep you warmer if you believe the physics. White reflects heat. Black obsorbs it. All good but if you have a white shirt on during summer and its reflecting your OWN body heat, it puts it right back on you---from the inside. I'm going white regardless.
