Just wanting to see what others are setting and color palate for their HB Si at for spotting Crappie (fish) the clearest in 30fow or less
I am running 998
I use the lowrance setting!
Kag,i have a 998 also,as for color ,the color that best for your eyes,i use the orange, try to match your speed to that of boat and go 2 t0 3 miles an hour, the setting are close from factory,in hard bottom use less senistivity and soft bottom may have to up it a little.but straight out of box should see fish if not going fast, others will chine in,but just for basic to see fish you should be ok
I normally use...:
Inverse pallette
800kHz SI
200kHz 2d
Max Depth 80ft (deepest part of my home lake is 70ft)
SI Range 60-75ft (1 side only IF searchin for bream beds)
Sensitivity to match bottom hardness
Contrast 10-12
Sharpness Off (unless I want the white fish echoes to pop out better)
Rickie
Thank you for the helpful advice
I forgot to mention I use 455kHz SI when I'm searching for suspended fish or new structure out to the sides...(SI image is brighter out to the edges of the image)...
800kHz SI is what I normally use for fishing waypoint to waypoint...(because I'm interested in image detail in this method)...

Good infor...
Do like inverse for some cases as they pop out real nice, as spoke of play with the one that you like the best and tweak it to satisfy you. As you go you'll start to see how one over the other will be best for your needs in different cases.
hope ya get a boat load :cheers2
