Harbor Freight Powder Paint

I was in Harbor Freight and noticed some of the Powder Paint was on sale. I got a pound of what they call Red for $3.99. When I got it home I painted about a dozen jig heads and discovered their idea of Red is not my idea of Red. It is more of a maroon. While not a bad color it is not the bright red for which I was looking. So before I spent any more money, has anyone tried the Yellow? It appears to be at least in the jar, more orange then the bright yellow I want.

And if anyone in the West Kentucky area wants some maroon PP let me know, as I have enough for a lifetime.

Do we have to be in Kentucky? I'll buy a couple ounces from ya!

The problem would be getting it to you. It will cost as much as you buying a pound at your local HF just to mail it.

Didn't think about that but Ur right.

I bought the black, red, and white from HBF. Colors were fine, but lots of clods in the black. Used a sifter to get most of them out. Seemed to be a little thicker when applied than Protec. So I mixed in some clear and they work just as good as other pp I have used.

You need to mix some clear gloss in the paint and it work well. The yellow is a good color but if you don't like it try mixing some custom colors using different colors. We have a custom color mix sticky at the top of this page, try some of the color combos.

Where does one find the clear gloss? I have checked the Pro Tec Line and did not see it.

Is the HF Yellow really Yellow or is it more of an Orange?

You can find it here 'Rosey's Powder Coating' but you may need to get a few to go in together and split a pound. You may be able to buy less, just check with them.
The HF yellow is more of a highway yellow. You can tone it down with white. For the price of their paint you can't go wrong. Get a pad and write down your mixes, you will be surprised at some of the colors you can make.

I try to pick up a pound or two every time I order powder paints from Rosey's. Keep your eyes open for their twice a year sale and it can be pretty reasonable to pick up. Keep your eyes on the classified as colors pop up on there on occasion.
