Since it's too cold to fish, I've been going through the tackle boxes to restock for Spring. Was interested in thoughts of C.C members on the types, color, hook size, and maker of crappie jig heads you have found the best. The Bobby Garland Mo Glow look good, but are a bit pricey. Don't need to buy large numbers. Any suggestions?
Slabbusters, Mid south, Crappie logic.I bought a jig mold from bass pro and pour my own jig heads, and use Slabbusters 99 per cent of the time, but have used home made from Bwillaub,Mkeller,muddy water,bass pro, hand tied my own for years, got some nice hand tied from Jiggin15,
I buy the 1/8 oz size with a #2 red hook and get them at everharts for I think $5.49 for 50, non-painted and powder coat my own mostly in orange...... used to pour my own when gold hooks were $20 a thousand........ long time ago.........and if I am using 1/16 oz I like the #4 red hook...... don't lose enough to even consider pouring anymore........
i use a orange 1/16 oz double barb sickle hook for shallow water and a orange 1/8 oz in deep water i pour and sell them.
bobby garland slab buster and baby shad with #2 red sickle hook 1/16 ounce but occasionally 1/8 ounce. Best colors are tuxedo shimmer, blue pearl, blk and chartruese, white and chartruese.

I will have the light wire Mustad hooks in the store in 100ct bags if anyone would like to buy some for pouring. Lots of guys switching to them. They sure would save a lot of retying all the time when fishing brush piles. I use Joel "crappie5" that owns illbejigged.com and Mike "Capt.Hook" for my jig needs. Either one can pour any odd ball jig no matter what the weight, shape, size and hook style you would ever want. For all your basics we have ball head, pony head, minnow head and ball head weedless in 1/16oz-1/4oz at the store. We can ship if needed. If you are wanting painted jig heads shoot me a PM. I have around 20 colors of powder paint and have around 10,000 jigs on hand right now ready to be painted. If you want to beat the winter time blues and kill some time I can walk/talk you through how to powder paint your own. Could save you some $$$ in the future.
