Cypress Creek Area Ky or TN license

Alright guys, it's -11 degrees here and we are not allowed to travel so I have had time to plan my trip for 3 days in the last week of March. We booked a private place on cypress creek. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a KY license and not go south of the bridge where you need the TN license. I had originally planned on fishing blood river but maybe I should stay out of blood and fish the other areas. My son is 14 and will not need a KY license but would need a TN one. The TN ones appear to be cheaper and I wouldn't spend much more money getting 2 TN licenses as compared to one KY one.

10point I thank if you stay north of the 79 bridge you can use Ky. license.

Yep, that's correct. The area south of the bridge looks kind of interesting.

According to the Kentucky Lake Reciprocol with Tennessee one is allowed to fish between the bridges...South of the Highway 68 bridge in Ky and North of the Hwy 79 bridge in Tn and the License of either state will be accepted.....BUT the Blood river area will be considered Ky waters and a Ky license will be needed. Google Kentucky Lake Reciprocol for proper explanation...Keep in mind South of the Hwy 79 bridge is Big Sandy a very well respected crappie fishing area.....Good Luck

10point-- You did not say where you're from or what you would be fishing in, but be aware Kentucky and Barkley lakes are oriented north and south which makes them very subject to strong winds. Some of the locals can give you more information than I can, but wind often creates large dangerous waves on them. In that situation you will want to avoid the open lake and stay within sheltered coves. If wanting to change fishing areas the safest thing to do would be to load your boat and trailer it to another cove. Just a few words of caution.

All I'll say is Big Sandy is a Crappie Factory!

Wow ... I think if I was that close to Big Sandy I would go with a TN license. You can still fish north of the bridge including Cypress with that license.

That is what I would do cause Cypress bay is a good bay to fish as well as Big Sandy. Good luck!!!

Another thing to consider is Ky has a 20 fish per day limit and Tn still has a 30 fish per day limit. I would love to have the revenue coming into Ky but you gain a lot more water fish'n with a Tn lic. You'll lose Blood but gain Big Sandy. Big Sandy is 3 times the size of Blood River.

If you and your son fish 5 days in Tn. you'll be able to keep 300 fish where as in Ky. you'll only be able to keep 200.

Actually ... according to the "Possession Limit" law of Tenn. .... you'd only be allowed to bring 120 fish back home. Their Possession Limit law is explained here: http://www.tnfish.org/FrequentlyAske...htm#Possession
KY's Possession Limit law is not as confining as Tennessee's rule. Our Possession Limit law states that "processed fish" do not count towards a possession limit. (see section 1, line #6 & #7 in this link : http://www.lrc.ky.gov/kar/301/001/201.htm )
