This cold snap should be adding some new ice and it should be a more solid ice than what was there before. The warm and cold air makes for some very unsafe ice. Be very careful out on the ice and stay safe guy's. I wish I could be out there with you! EB
Yea, we had that little stretch of 60's after Christmas. Looking at the rest of January, It won't be brutally cold, but it won't be warm either. Too early to tell how February will pan out. But my gut tells me our big snowstorms are coming in late Feb and March.
Was out last night in Omaha area and found lots of ice 12-14"" thick.
With the recent high winds we had Tuesday and Thursday. With more wind possible Saturday and temps hitting close to 60 Sunday. Be very careful out there. There is open water on a few local lakes in Omaha. Been hearing a few folks falling through the ice, mostly in the shallow part of the lakes, this past weekend. I'm sure with spot of open water now, it will get thinner as the weekend goes by.
