Don't know about the rest of you but this global warming is really taking its toll on my fishing!
I agree Pappa !! Global warming my! Reminds me of when I worked at Purgatory (the ski area) not the other place. One lift I ran, every morning there would be 1-1.4" ice crystals formed on anything metal.
Yup, it's cold. Oh wait, was I the guy griping about HOT it was last summer? I would take a little bit of that heat now! If you have to be out, take care of yourself; me, I'm hanging out indoors with a cup of coffee in my hand!
Yeah, I just finished some homemade biscuits, eggs and gravy and I'm now sitting here drinking coffee. I will take fishing in July or August anytime over the kind of December and January we are having. I'm only gonna venture out today to see if i can find some warmer clothes to buy for fishing.
IkenI I would recommend the bass pro 100 mph suit, or the Pro Qualifier, they are both great at cutting the wind off, and are waterproof! Might also hunt up a pair of those Down coveralls that Ranger and Charlie use.
Redge, I have a Cabelas suit like the Bass Pro and it works great. Kept the spray and wind off when we were crossing Keystone. My problem was I had too heavy clothing underneath it so later in the day it was too warm. I'm gonna look for something light, yet warm to wear under that suit. I used my overalls I used to bird hunt in (similar to the down coveralls) and they were just too hot for later in the day. That way I could peel my Cabelas suit off and still be decently warm when it got up into the 40's. When I bought the Cabelas I had been down to Bass Pro and almost bought the 100 mph set. Thought I would wait until I checked Cabelas. Their similar set was on sale for half off at the time so it worked out good.
Being a big time bird hunter I'm accustomed to the cold but only when moving around. Ike was a fast moving bird dog. Being stationary in a boat I go from good to too cold to too hot so I've just got to tailor my layers. I still prefer to fish in shorts in 100 degree temperature over breaking ice to drop a jig.
Merle and I are gonna fish a few more tournaments together so we can qualify for the classic. We need you to give us a class on Tenkiller crappie before then. Not looking for honey holes, just general info on the lake. I'm gonna hit up Whisperer to do the same at Oologah because neither of us have ever been on that lake.
I know what you mean Floyd, I can bird hunt almost anytime with one layer of long johns and a coat. Just went bird hunting last week. That walking keeps me warm! Sitting still in that boat with the wind blowing is another beast! Class is open anytime you want on Killer! Not that I can teach you anything, but at least we can fish together! May want to wait closer to the actual tournament, so they are on the correct pattern. However I fish almost every weekend so just let me know, would like to get together with you and WW anyways.
Might want to hit up Ranger for a guide trip, he has a different style of fishing that I need to learn, another tool in the tool box! He has fished Killer for a loooooong time! He has more knowledge on it (killer), in his pinky finger than I have gathered all together! However I am persistent, my wife would call it hard headed!
Would rather be outside anytime during the winter on the water instead of where I have been and where I am now. Dang I am laying flat on my back with the dang crud running 101.6 degree temp. Just sayin......Ranger
Get your self well Ranger, then you can run to killer and get your limit!! Take care of your self.
Been there Ranger. Still got symptoms after 40 days. Gettin better though. Hang in there.
