Fishing Creek on Friday
I made it to the lake and really enjoyed some quiet time doing what I love doing....fishing. I was spider rigging minners near the bottom and managed 2 nice crappie and 14 white perch. Man, those white perch are really growing on the hill. I KNOW I had some over a lb apiece. Anyway, didnt set the woods on fire by any means bit did get to carry the boat and get everything checked to make sure the boat was ready. Looking forwards to some more fishing trips soon....but that'll be after Christmas.

Nothing wrong with fried perch filets , thanks for posting.

OK all y'all convinced me. I am gonna make a trip to Clark Hill to check out the White Perch. I set out fishing for Crappie, but the WP seemed to show up, but have not seen any that big in a while on Murray. May shoot for Thursday or Friday after Christmas. Where would you suggest I start out?? I've only fished the lake once it the last 10 years and that was on Pistol Creek with Butch, so I know almost nothing about the lake.

Ray, word I got after my trip Friday was a ton of perch was caught on Pistol that day. I dont know the size that was being caught there but I'd suspect they were nice ones too. If that doesnt strike your fancy you can go to Fishing Creek and begin near the mouth & drift fishing minners on the bottom. I overheard one guy telling another that they did good on the perch earlier that morning. I wasted alot of my morning trying to pull crappie off the ledges in the creek channel farther back into the creek than the guys were at catching the perch.

Good to hear you got the boat wet and got to feel the tug on the lines, I know it had to feel good after the long lay over. :)

Butch I am glad you were able to get out and at least feel the tug on your line even if it was not the intended species. Fried perch is better than nothing. next time I hope you can get on the crappie thanks for posting

My boss laid out of work Thursday and caught 25 or 30 WP in the mouth of Fishing Creek. Glad ya found some fish Butch.

Thanks guys. Even though those perch were real good sized I didnt keep any of them. Theyre all back in the lake still looking for more minners to feed on. I still have plenty of crappie in the freezer that needs to be cooked before spring gets here again. The trip was good to iron out all the bugs on the boat since she's been sitting for so long. And yes it did feel good catching some fish on long poles again.:)

Way to go Butch, after your long lay off, I'm certain those tugs on the line felt mighty fine. Congrats on the catch, and thanks for the report.
