Trip Down South 12-18-13
EB and Myself took a road trip yesterday down South. We first started off in Gaines Creek and after scanning several banks finding schools of bait in 10'to12' with fish just under them decided to put the rigs out and see what we could do..well after 2 hrs and more than 1 spot we decided to move to anothe lake. After an 1 1/2 drive and 90 miles later we were back on the water at around 12:30..not far from where we put in we landed our 1st crappie @ 1.88lb..we ran through 6dz minnows or more. Rerigged with jigs on riggin poles and still caught em. The highlite was using our 10' poles with a single jig and a weighted cork fishing 10' deep and throwing down the bank in 13' to 17' DOW and watching it get jerked under or rattled with a solid thunk and then run off sideways. We ended the day, well ok 4 hrs of fishing with around 40 crappie in the LW and some really heavy fish as well.......Ranger

Nice job boys. Glad you found them!

Nice haul there Mark and Brian. I did noticed you mentioned Gaines Creek, but failed to mention the other lake. What is this going to be another one of those mystery lakes, if so why even bother posting.............LOL
-
Well I have it narrowed down to two lakes now. One south and one east.......:biggrin
-
LOL Well I guide the lake we were on! EB

Yeah it does say "After an 1 1/2 drive and 90 miles later we were back on the water at around 12:30..not far from where we put in" so I take it you drove around and ended back up at Eufuala.

Spent many years of my youth driving 270 between McAlester and Wister. It's a great Crappie lake (and river.)

Jamie if I wanted 100 boats on this lake I would of said lol. It was Wister....Ranger

Well Mark, if we get the rain that they are saying Wister will be 25' high come Monday. So much for 100 boats heading that way. I figured you were at Wister anyways. Plus I never said the lake in any of my post..............:biggrin
