hi,
I have a lowrance hds 9, and I'm exploring the possibility of adding a fully compatible trolling motor.
my question is, why would I need the vastly more expensive xi5 trolling motor that has GPS and sonar built in, vs the one without?
what am I gaining for the extra 400 bucks?
I might eventually get xds 7 for up front

But you can't do PinPoint and SpotlightScan on the same TM...
SpotlightScan is cable steer only ...(until Cane Pole gets ahold of one)...

I don't know which would be best. But MOST of the time I'm going from one known brush pile to the next. many in the same 30 yd area.
I really need full details on what I would see with hds up front using a xi5 tm with transducer.
what features does this ducer possess?
or how good will the spotlight be? will I really be able to see crappie on one brush pile and avoid the next that is barren?

I will be purchasing the Xi5 base model myself. In the event I fill that I need pinpoint I will purchase the $450 GPS pinpoint add-on later.

what fish finder do you use?
I don't know but it looks like the xi5 may be using the same technology as the rhodan anchor. The anchor actually works as an anchor from all I've read. Holds a 2.5 foot is what they claim by using 2 gps and some military technology. The xi5 has all the same features as the saltwater Rhodan anchor including 5 foot movements and both use 2 gps receivers instead of 1 like I pilot. Anyways I'm waiting for an auto anchor that works before I spend the money on one. Hopefully the technology was bought from Rhodan to use on xi5 and spot lock actually works. I've read a few reviews that the xi5 actually holds a position very well, hoping to hear some comments on this also.
