which one would you use?

Attachment 144700Tied some jigs the other day. I know that they are both good jigs but am wondering what is the popular consensus will be. 1/48 oz #6 hook. White deer hair tail with a little superglue to keep them in place. All input welcome.

Both look very good & are ready for testing. The left one should perform better in clear water like LCR and B-D, but watch for short strikes. Also, I'd move up as many hook sizes as your mold will allow. It may be my imagination (and I don't throw tiny jigs very often), but it seems that more hits become hookups with #4 than #6 hooks.

#4 for 1/48,1/32,1/24 or #2 for 1/24,1/16,3/32, & 1/8 that's my go-to's... Jigs look great! Try laying your flat waxed with the loose end hanging off the hook (tail end) hold it in place with your finger take your bobbin and lay a course starting at the back of the head all the way to the point of the hook (right before the bend of the shank) then back to the head... This will give you a good base so that your hair will not roll on your hook.. Also when you put your hair on make 3 or four wraps loosely before you start to ease alittle tension on the thread. Not a doubt in my mind those will catch fish though... Also try out artic fox hair, kip tail, or craftfur being my favorite... Has a lot more action in the water, almost pulsates. 1/48 works well for me on calm days or early am. But in winter with N winds I usually go to 1/24 at the lightest

Good looking jigs. I believe both will catch plenty.

If shallow and clam ,I would use both to get different speed but would trim the back of them a little because of short strike from less aggressive fish

I've been tyin an testin bucktails for 4 decades. I've settled on #4 Laser Eagle Claw bronze for all my hair jigs. It hangs the brush a lot less than #2 and holds fish better. anything smaller and I start missin strikes. I use a 3/32 90% of the time. shoot docks with a 1/16 cause it skips easier. I measure my hair on my finger, one an one half joints (inches) works best for me.

The red string tags are a good touch.
