I like that Jig skip nothing like good old American possum and I like the jungle cock it makes it look pretty neat.
Skip, bring a couple of 'em to Toledo Bend in January...........know what I mean?
Never thought of opossum, but I actually like it. Giving me more ideas Skip, I appreciate it!
Nice looking jig!!!!!!! But, where did you get the jighead from???
Been using these mostly for some guys over in Louisiana and they sent me a few jigs wanting to know if I could make them and I got Robert to make a mold especially for this kind of jig which mostly I use kip tail on and with a # 6 Sickle hook. They liked them well enough so I loaded up on these quite a while back now, must have been 4 or 5 years ago now? I got him to put a special collar on these that has a small flair end to assist tying the kip tail controlling the thread. They are just under 1/16, but close enough to call it that.
Redge the possum is pretty nice stuff. Actually I tied this jig probably 3 years ago if not longer back. Australian Possum is totally different is why I said American.
Skip I can get all the opossum I need, glad for clarifying the difference. I didn't realize that there was more than one kind of opossum. I had just never thought about using it in a jig.
Well one day it just hit me and I saw some at one of the really big suppliers of all kinds of things and ordered a bunch of it. Aussy possum is way more curly and thicker and not the same color, but is good for dubbing especially using it right off the hide.
Nice stuff Skip. The ball collar helps the flare just right. It also reminds me that I have almost to kip, squirrel, or fox in the box and spring isn't far off. Good looking jig.
Thanks Skeet, like this little head for what it's used on for sure!
