As I have stated before, last year was my first year crappie fishing...I have spider rigging 95% of the time...when fishing a jig do you or should you let the jig drop all the way to bottom and work up bumping every ft or so or work it down every ft all the way to bottom...planning on hitting some docks and would love to your feed back and help...btw I caught my first on a jig last week around the docks at red river south...I understand what the bump is now.
If fishing docks usually you would use high viz line and pitch a small jig out under it and watch you line for a tiny jerk to set hook. You can also do a pendulum type pitch even a heavier jig if you have room to let it swing back under your rod tip until you feel the thump. Lots of other ways to fish a jig though.

If you are fishing docks. Do like Skip said. Several ways to fish visible cover like that. You can also cast and reel. Cast out and count down jig, 1001-1002 and start to reel real slow, watch line for a slight tick and set hook. Count it down alittle more after a few casts if not bit. The fish will tell you when your on.
