Proud of this one
I have no idea if this will catch fish and I know it's not tied really well but I'm awful proud of it. This is the first jig I've tied with a feather off a bird I actually harvested. It was a good feeling tying this one and I never thought I would get so much out of this hobby when I picked it up. Who knew that a too windy to fish day and a trip to Cabela's would turn in to something I enjoyed this much. Thanks to Skip for posting his roadrunner pictures and turning me on to the fl. blue marabou, I ordered some and spent most of last night trying different combos with it, love the looks of it, hopefully the fish do.Attachment 143761

Looks good, nice job and good use of the flank feather! Also bet it will catch some crappie too!
What you said here is why we always tell guys it's very addicting and don't plan on saving money tying your own jigs, because you always get so much more out of this than ever though just by looking! It's a great hobby and one I dearly love!

Seems like blue is the new gray. Nice tie. Blue is a color that has been used for years in the crappie jig world. I have noticed that blue is being used more now than what I have seen in the past 5 or 6 years. I am of the opinion that blue is a color that to the crappie may appear as a shade of gray. One of my go to patterns in the spring is a kip tail threadneck with a black head and and black kip tail with a small bunch of blue kip tail as a wing. I tie the same jig with a red wing but blue is the big winner here. I have a friend that ties the same pattern but with brown kip tail and blue wing. He does just as good as I do. He has confidence in his pattern I have confidence in mine. Think that confidence is something that we add to the jig when we tie it to the line. If I don't think that a jig will work I won't tie it on the line. It will never catch a fish but if I have confidence it will catch fish all day long.
