Why would a guys tourney partner up and quit?

I often wondered why a fellers tourney partner would up and quit him? Then I got to wondering, why would they all quit him? Could he be an @$$? Tightwad? Or just plain hard to get along with? Someone tell me? Have you ever had a partner to quit you? Have you ever quit a partner?

Would you fish with a feller who was always late, never paid his share of the expense, wouldn't drive his truck or boat and drank all the beer? Well, neither would he!!!

Some people don't like smokers in their boat. I know they don't want to share my beer.

There could be a multitude of reasons. The partner may have things going on in his personal life that has nothing to do with the other partner. Loss of a job, marital problems, financial problems, health problems ect. Could be that some people are easier to fish with when they are not in competition mode. Without further information, everything else is a blind guess.

I agree Speck, I have said it a bunch of times, "not everyone is a tourney partner". If it were me and mine quit I would flat out ask, although I wont have that prob cause I tourney fish with a guy that will flat out tell ya!!!:RoflTourney fishing is completely different than just going fishing for some folks, I share my boat with a lot of folks but when it comes to a tourney I want Goodtime sitting beside me, it just works and I hope it will continue to for a while to come.

Partnerships are a tough deal, regardless of what nature.

As with all partnerships, communication is vital for survival and success!

I feel there has to be a balance too of an Alpha and an Omega - Too many Skippers and not enough Gilligans............................

For me it comes down to not enjoying tourney fishing. I have limited free time. Back in the day I tourney fished. Took up lots of what few weekends I had. Tourney was usually scheduled and when time came I would have to fish a lake at a time when it was slow. Yet I knew other places where I could catch loads of fish. I am not competitive. Had several tourneys where the winner came from the back of my boat. I would be fighting the trolling motor and putting us in position to fish. They were just fishing. Came down to just having more fun fishing where I wanted when I wanted. Had one of the areas better fishermen tell me " If it's not a tourney, I just don't enjoy it." I thought that was dumb. My least enjoyable days were tourney days. I have enough pressure on my job. Why create more on days off. That guy has changed and now has moved more my way of thinking.

If my fishing partner quits, it will only be because I don't kiss as good as I once did.
