I searched the site for info on drift sock rope length and found nothing. I have seen folks pulling their socks a long way behind the boat and some about 8 feet back. What is the preferred length of rope do you suggest I use fishing the big four? Thanks
All you need is enough line out to insure the sock fills and helps slow you down.
I use one made specifically for drift sock. Has ropes to pull the back end out first an everything
What they said. I use the harness that is made for socks...about 4' long.
I made my own just like the factory one. Added a extra line to the blue dump line to retrieve. Like Feelay said about 4 ft and that's plenty.

The harnesses from BPS come with both carabiners and the dump cord, but the floats (which you really don't need) aren't as nice as the Cabelas model.
