Are these crappie?

Do the fish on the edge of this drop-off look like crappie? I recently got two new Humminbird units and I'm trying to figure out what I'm looking at. Ordinarily I'd just be able to compare what I catch to what I see on the screen...but I'm not having any luck catching crappie. It might be because I'm not identifying them properly on the graph. Any advice would be appreciated.

Same here. The returns are a little large for crappie. Their returns are a lot smaller.

Any Walleye in that lake, sure looks like some marble eyes to me

I would have to agree with the consensus that they may not be crappie - they look a little large. Pretty tightly stacked together - so they don't look like walleye.

Thanks guys. No Walleye in this lake...sounds like they are bass. I see a lot of pics of crappie where they are schooled up in a "tower" type formation. Do they generally stack up like that? Is that what I should be looking for every time I hit the water?

I've found that some times what I see as a "tower" formation is a single "stob" or tree trunk with fish suspended up and down it - but our interpretations may be different. It also depends on how they are "schooling" - some times in "clumps" of three to ten, sometimes large schools will look like clouds. In the Championship at Grenada - we would mark "scattered" fish - where some of them were showing up as "individuals". Please be careful with my "opinion" on this matter due to the fact that I have a lot to learn about "reading crappies on sonar and imaging"! But that is what is so fun about fishing!

Next time you see them near bottom ,drop a hopkin on them and they will let you know.
