If you do not have to fish Harris, I would recommend you trying Kissimmee Chain or St. John's lakes. I think there is an old post about Astor, FL for someone who wanted a fish camp and quality crappie. Just my two cents.
thanks but i think i am going there for a variety of reasons are any lakes good for specks
Gotcha, well I will defer to a few others who know those lakes well...I really don't fish that chain any more. I think you can still get some specks in a few of those lakes.
in the Harris chain? Im taking the 5th. Crescent, Monroe, Jessup, Harney.............would be more inclined to head to these first but I guess if i had no option.......Lake Yale still has a few good reports coming out of it.
Enjoy your stay and best of luck!!
I live on the mt dora end of the harris chain. the canal that leads out to lake beauclaire, lake carlton and lake dora . If u want any nfo about that area send me a pm.
Harris chain can be great, it hasn't been for me lately, 10 trips and 4 fish, but have had limit days.(moons Jan, Feb) if the water cools then comes back up to 60s. Today was 70 Hasn't cooled yet and ZERO bites.--shu
thanks i will when it gets closer thanks for all your help
The Harris Chain is great fishing if you know where to go. Lake Dora is real hot right now with pink Rons Zip Jigs and Skipper Jigs being the best baits. You can find those at Sandys Bait and Tackle in Tavares. Lake Carlton is also very good.
