I think if the cones overlap you will possibly have issues, unless you have only one running at a time or have plenty of separation
You can get away with it if the units are operating at different frequencies.
It does depend on whether more than one unit will be operating a transducer at the same time, what the operating frequency (or frequencies) will be, and what the beam width is, but don’t forget the shape of the sonar beam and whether it comes out of the bottom or sides of the transducer. The depth of the water and the composition of the bottom will also affect whether you will see any sonar-to-sonar interference or not.
What unit and transducers are you talking about here?
Hi Greg,
Thanks for the feedback. I am looking at using a Humminbird 386ci or 386ci di that I plan to purchace along with a Lowrance Mark 5x pro that I currently own.
I don’t know about the Mark 5x pro but the 386ci and 386ci DI models both radiate the sonar out of the bottom of the transducer, so there should not be a problem with mounting the transducer next to the other transducer. However, operating them both at the same time may be a problem as I am guessing that the Mark 5x pro uses the same 200kHz frequency as the two 386 units. This will give the possibility of sonar-to-sonar interference.
Greg, I am wanting to put a new di unit 89? Depending on what's new in Dec. on my minkota terova I have a 999 there now and plan on leaving it and running both at the same time is this possible?
Not sure that I am understanding you here ccollins.
What transducer is on your trolling motor now?
You already have a 999ci HD Si unit mounted at the bow now, correct?
You are looking at getting the new 859ci HD DI model to install at the bow as well?
What transducer were you looking at using with the 859ci HD DI unit?
The Si and DI model units use the same frequencies, so depending on how you have them configured you may have sonar cross-talk problems.
Greg, sorry I have a 998 mounted on my tm now I am wanting a 85? ( not sure on model number. The new one coming out in dec.) to use for di only the transducer on my 998 is the one that comes with them new.
