Just curious if anyone on here still ties on a Beetle Spin (or similar jig spinner) when chasing the crappie? I always hear about folks pulling cranks, spider rigging and wigglin' and jigglin' one pole at a time, just curious if anyone still casts for their crappie?
I got to have something to change the pace with every now and then, so swimming a grub or slow cranking a Beetle Spin are essential to my sanity every now and then.
Catch a few on horse head Road Runner....
In spring I still use them. Here is a 2.3 lb one caught on a blue/clear sparkle tube rigged on a spinner in Toledo Bend. Caught a nice mess of them that day and all over 1 lb. Attachment 142373
By the way, I'm a big guy. That fish would look real big with a skinny guy behind it.:)
I often use roadrunners with twisty tails when long lining. Best in spring and early summer, but are effective all year long.
I cast them offen,even in the winter,even change the blade on some to color blades,even willow leaf.Some times I use a ponyhead for the jig which gives a spinner on the beetle spin and one on the pony,depends.
I'll just say yes i, we, us, them, at times sling beetle fuzz.
Attachment 142493That is my favorite way to fish for darn near anything . I got beetle spins that will fit up to 3/4 oz. Here is one 3/4 . not a very good pic but all I got . Do-It wasn't the first one to come up with a lure that has a swivel skirt . Don Butler was the first years ago . This is an Okie Bug Gator Bait .
