James river Nov 6th
Burned a vacation day. Cold, slow start. First fish didn't come til about noon. Ended up with about 25. Largest was a14.25" at 1 lb 7 oz. quite a few 12's and 3 at 13". Had a bad minnow die off and found that the larger fish liked a dead minnow hooked thru the back.
Fish with my buddy Allen. @$/!?$$ always catches the big one.

I'll bet if you were throwing jigs you would have caught at least 26 and your biggest would be at least 14.5" and probably 1lb 10oz. :biggrin

Dayton, please tell me that jacket got shrunk somehow!

You may be right Tap, I'm not very skilled in the jig department. I'm available for Tapouts Jig school on Saturday. I know where fish are on Buggs and the James. Ill put us on them, you teach me how you do it. Tell me where, which boat and what time. I can even run the camera for your next youtube video

Great catch Dayton. If you would like to learn to fish a jig I can get you into my brothers lake and should be able to teach you some jig tactics. I stopped fishing live bait after the Kerr bash and I feel I catch more fish now then in years past. Plus there is no cost and trying to get minnows in the mornings is tuff in the winter. The places open so late. You can show me some spots on the James because I have never fished for crappie there. Nice looking pictures!!!!!!!

I'd like to try that Jim, thanks. I have a bit of Saturday freedom now that hunting season is in. My son will be hanging with Grandpa at the huntclub.
Can I still bring some corks and float a jig under them? It's hard to go cold turkey!
-
I knew he was bluffin! he' scared to go jig fishin. he'd be sloberin an droolin an lookin all aroun for cork on the water! I can't believe you can stand to hear them lil minnies scream when ya stick that hook in'em!

Nice report Raner, the best way to learn jigs is to go jigs alone otherwise you will keep looking back to minnows for a crutch and will not have the consecration needed for a jig,Jim will teach you that, you must know what that jig is doing and it's depth at all time,no cork to tell you and to keep it that depth, good luck and good jig fishing,oh don,t let corker know,LOL

Thanks for the report. Those are some good sized fish.
