Honestly will be 6 one way...half a dozen the other. You will get positives and negatives on both.
Me...I like the simplicity of a 2 stroker...and well...the smell. lol. Yeah I'm weird...but nothing like two stroke oil burning in the morning. :biggrin
RR think it's going to depend on what size motor and boat set up you have or want. What kind of speed you expect. I have a 4 stroke Yamaha 50 now and have owned all kinds and sizes of motors since 68. Would not own anything but 4 stroke now. Very low maintaince, cheap on gas, no mixing oil or worrying about automatic oiler. They have 150 motors in 4 stroke now that will perform with any 2 stroke for performance. Like Scrapper said you will get all kinds of opinions. Just figure out what your needs are then do your research.
If I were buying new it would be 4 stroke hands down!!! Sho do love to hear that ole 200 merc growl as it eats up the lake tho!!!!
On my second 4 stroke. I will never go back to two.
I have run two strokes for years but I am on my second four stroke and will never go back to two stroke. Low maintenance, quiet running, smooth running, great fuel mileage, easy starting in all conditions.
My sentiments exactly and my 90 will push my Lund to 48-50 which is faster than I hardly ever go. There is one downside, tho'. I've been known to go back to the console after jiggin for some time only to find out I forgot to turn it off. It's that quiet.Quote:
