LCR with an old friend

An old friend from Washington (state) and I wrapped up several days on Little Creek Reservoir yesterday.
The weather ranged from warm to cold, bluebird sky to steady rain, and slick calm to whitecaps,

but the WT stayed at 65* plus/minus a couple of degrees throughout the period. Water clarity is excellent
and the grass line is out to 20' water in some places.
We fished corks with minnows, jigs, and both, but the most important thing seemed to stay close to the
grass line. At best, the crappie bite was "fair." Lots of small chain pickerel consumed our minnows, but nothing
large enough to be interesting.
Occasional ringers added to the days catch. During the past couple of weeks, I've averaged close to one
citation ringer (by length) per fishing day--usually no larger than this 12.5-incher.

When we could find them, the crappie tended to be 9.5" or larger. Our best was my friend's first VA citation
crappie!

It measured 15.5" but was well short of 2# (we released it without weighing.) He also scored a 12" YP--
not bad for 3 days of fishing.
It doesn't get much better than this--beautiful scenery everywhere,

the best of company, and enough fish to make the days interesting!
