Deep cover
I mainly fish on lake Barkley in Tn. The lake has a lot of old creek channels that lie in 12-20 feet of water. Would it be a bad idea to place some brush in the creek channel? There is one particular creek that connects two bays that I fish during the spawn. I know the crappie must use this creek before and after the spawn. I thought about targeting areas where the creek bends??

Creek bends...yes. I do the same thing...hence the name.

Those are excellent pre spawn holding points for bigger "barn doors" depending upon drawdown...would be tempted to place any cover in lines shallower to deeper, down into the actual former creek bed.

My plan is to place multiple brush piles along a half mile stretch of the creek channel. There are several smaller creeks that fork off of this and run into coves. I'm also planning to put steak beds on the upper side of the smaller creek channels and then another row in shallower water closer to the bank

I thought lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake were pretty much already full of steak beds??? May not find and empty spot to drop...LOL!
